Furious 7 Movie Poster

Yesterday Vivo Energy Kenya (distributor of Shell branded products) and its V power brand together with Capital FM held a pre-premier showing of the Furious 7. Before watching the movie Kenyan bikers and supped up cars came together at Prestige Plaza to show that even Kenya has its share of beautiful rides.

Fast and the Furious 7 is a high octane movie, with great fast paced action sequences, and memorable fast drives. In this installment of ‘Furious 7’  Deckard Shaw is the big, bad and deadly bad guy. Deckard’s brother was  badly hurt in a confrontation with Dominic Toretto and the gang in Fast and the Furious 6 and Deckard  seeks revenge. Deckard Shaw was a former British spy whose specialty was killing and vanishing into the shadows.

It is abit eerie to see the Late Paul walker who passed away in 2013. His brothers do a great job of doubling for him though. Vin Diesel (Dom) is as awesome as ever, trying to keep his family together. Paul Walker is as usual great. The surprise was that Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) only had a cameo role in this movie. The punch lines of Ludicrous and Tyrese Gibson will keep you laughing during the movie. Michelle Rodriguez (Letty) is trying to regain her memory and has a great performance. Jason Statham who is the villain in this movie does a great job of being a bad ass antagonist. Kurt Russell also makes an appearance as a mysterious US Government spy. Djimon Hounsou, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Ali Fazal also join the cast.

One of the interesting scenes is one where cars fly out of the sky. Nathalie Emmanuel comes into Fast and Furious as a hacker who creates a program that can find anybody in the world by triangulating camera pictures from different electronic gargets like mobile phones and CCTV cameras. Everybody wants the program called the eye. Letty also has a pretty awesome action packed fight at a party so it’s not only the boys Dom and Brian who get into fights. This movie has enough eye candy for those who love beautiful cars. There are the beautiful cars and the beautiful people.

There are flashbacks from Paul Walker’s past in the Fast and the Furious franchise. The ending of the movie gives a fitting goodbye to Walker who has been an integral part of the franchise.

This movie is definitely worth watching if you are a fan of the Fast and Furious movies. It promises some great moments. I would give it 4 ½ stars for a great action movie because there are scenes which defy logic but that has never stopped a great movie before. It’s enjoyable, fast paced and also abit nostalgic.

The movie premiers today all over the world. You can get to watch it from today and get your high-octane movie fix.
