On Friday music lovers were treated to a delightful concert by the famous German Classical Quartet Salut Salon at the Villa Rosa Kempinski. Salut Salon wooed and wowed the crowd with their classical music which had many twists and turns that delighted the crowd. It was a night of destiny as one of their songs goes and the charity gala dinner was able to raise 1.2 million Kenya shillings. These funds will go to the Nairobi Ghetto Classics Music School in Korogocho.
Ghetto classics also received 6 musical instruments from the event sponsors who included the German Embassy, Swiss Airlines, German Business Association and the Villa Rosa Kempinski. This donation will go far in supporting the music school which offers music lessons to the children in the Korogocho slum. The Ghetto classics center trains over 300 children.
Speaking during the gala dinner, Manish Nambiar, General Manager Villa Rosa Kempinski said “We are proud to have hosted the Salut Salon quartet and grateful to join our partners in employing Classical Music as a means to develop of our youth.” he added.
The quartet from Germany, led by Iris Siegfried used both vocals and the violin, also played the piano, and the cello to thrill their audience in an interative performance. The quartet know better than any other chamber music ensemble how to seduce their audience with passionate virtuosity, instrumental acrobatics, charm and a great sense of fun.
The charity dinner which cost Ksh. 6000 per plate was sold out. The Salut Salon performed before dinner and even performed Malaika with selected Ghetto Classics students. The dinner was open to both individuals and corporates.
