Ear pimples are just acne that appears on the ears or inside the external ear canal. There can be several reasons behind the formation of an ear pimple. Overproduction of oil in ears, blockage of pores by dead skin cells, oil, ear wax, and bacteria, inserting your fingers and other foreign objects inside the ear, dandruff issues, swimming in unclean dirty water, sharing and wearing dirty earbuds, wearing hats for a long period, and having facial acne are some reasons behind the formation of pimple in your ear.

Although in most cases you shouldn’t be worried about them as they can subside on their own. However, some people may feel pain and discomfort which is why they turn towards accelerating the healing process of the pimple by applying medicinal or home remedies. In this article, we will be providing some medicinal and home remedies that you can certainly apply to speed up the healing process of your ear pimple.

Medicinal Remedies For Treating Ear Pimples

There are some medicinal remedies that you can turn to without getting a prescription from the doctor. Although it is advisable to always seek the opinion of your healthcare provider first.

  1. Rubbing alcohol
Dabbing a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol around the pimple and nearby areas will help in preventing the infection from spreading.
  2. Acne cleanser
You can find acne cleansers containing salicylic acid that you can apply on the pimple, if the pimple is present inside the ear then apply it using a Q-tip and wash it off with water. This will help unclog the clogged pores and promote fast healing of the pimple. Beauty: How To Take Care Of Acne Prone Skin

Topical acne ointments that contain about 2-10% benzoyl peroxide (which is an antiseptic that gets rid of the bacteria causing the pimple) can be applied to the pimple for reducing the infection and promoting quick recovery.
  4. Hydrogen peroxide
Applying hydrogen peroxide to the pimple with a cotton swab, multiple times a day helps get rid of the bacteria and inflammation, thereby accelerating the healing process.
  5. Neosporin
Neosporin gel applied on the pimple multiple times a day can quickly dry up the pimple and destroy the infection-causing organisms in the pimple, promoting healing of the skin.

Home Remedies For Treating Ear Pimples

  1. Tea tree oil
Applying 5% diluted tea tree oil on the pimple multiple times a day, helps get rid of the infection in the pimple, thereby promoting healing.
