Every once in a while, we like to treat ourselves to wine. Wine is a great invention, and we love it. An interesting fact about white wine is that it is produced by the alcoholic fermentation of the non-coloured pulp of grapes, which may have a skin of any colour. However, white wine is mainly from “white” grapes, which are green or yellow in colour, such as the Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, and Riesling.

White wine is arguably better than red wine because first, it doesn’t cause headaches. Additionally, it does not stain clothing. It has a pleasant smell and it goes with cheese in ways that red wine could never. If you’re looking for more reasons to drink white wine then this post is for you. Here are the health benefits of white wine.

  1. It is good for your heart

The antioxidant composition of white wines is comparable to that of olive oil, and whites may be just as effective as reds in facilitating healthy heart and artery function. It can improve ventricular recovery in the heart. Thus, drinking white wine in a moderate amount may be an alternative way to prevent a stroke.

  1. It can help with weight loss

For those who are trying to lose weight, then here is some good news for you. White wine can help you. White wine contains antioxidants called epicatechin, quercetin, and resveratrol. These compounds lower levels of cholesterol and disease-causing free radicals. The beneficial antioxidants in wine may also promote weight loss and smaller waist circumference in women.

  1. It controls the body glucose levels

White wine has been said to lower glucose levels. This is specifically important for diabetics.  Just like in red wine, the polyphenols in white wine may help prevent metabolic syndrome and Type 2 Diabetes by helping your body regulate blood sugar levels and fat metabolism, according to a January 2011 “Food and Function” study.

In another study in the National Library of Medicine patients with well-controlled Type 2 diabetes can drink moderate amounts of wine with meals without risking acute deterioration of glycaemic control.

  1. Promotes the functioning of the brain

White wine is good for your brain. A Columbia University study involving over 1,000 people proved that drinking white wine in moderation amount may help to improve brain cells and brain function for sure.

Another 2018 study from the University of Rochester Medical Center found that low levels of alcohol consumption, like white wine, can lower inflammation in the brain and help it clear away toxins, including those linked to serious diseases of the brain.

  1. Improves the strength of bones

For those who suffer from weak bones, here is an answer for you. White wine contains a mineral that promotes bone strength and density. Further, drinking white wine in moderation may reduce the risk of bone diseases such as osteoporosis.

  1. It keeps your lungs healthy

Lungs are one of the major body organs, and for this and other reasons, they need to be healthy. A study from the University of Buffalo reveals that drinking white wine directly correlates with better lung function. How? White wine possesses the necessary nutrients to keep the lung tissues healthy and working well. Although consuming red wine also benefits the lungs, white wine has proven to be much stronger.

  1. Prevention from Alzheimer’s disease

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia. It is a progressive disease beginning with mild memory loss and possibly leading to loss of the ability to carry on with regular activities. Due to its neuroprotective properties, white wine has been linked to improved memory function and overall prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.
