Packing the right things in your gym bag is the first step in creating an efficient workout routine. It boosts your confidence knowing that you got the necessities to use during and after your workout. For a first-timer, this can be a confusing experience and it might take a few tries to know what you need when you go to the gym. To avoid this guesswork here are some essentials you should have in your gym bag.

  1. Deodorant

It doesn’t matter whether you’re headed home after your workout, it’s absolutely necessary to pack deodorant in your gym bag. The musky smell tends to linger even after taking a shower depending on how sweaty you get during a workout. Deodorant can help keep the musk at bay after working out. If you tend to sweat a lot while working out, you can dab some deodorant in between your sets.

5 Natural Deodorant Alternatives That You Should Try

  1. Hair Clips And Ties

It doesn’t hurt to have a few extra hair ties in our gym bag. For women (and men with long hair), we all know the struggle of pushing your hair back every time you do any kind of exercise. It’s not fun and can make your workout twice as hard. Additionally, your hair should be far from your face to avoid drenching it in sweat.

7 Ways To Maintain Your Weave After A Workout

  1. Healthy Snacks

You may have a whole meal waiting for you after your workout but exercising can really build up an appetite. If you don’t sustain it immediately, you may end up losing energy in the middle of your workout. Therefore, you need to have a protein-rich snack in your gym bag to avoid starving your body which can not only kill your morale but also slow your fitness process. Foods You Should Avoid After A Workout To Lose Weight

  1. Shoe Bag

Nothing stinks up a gym bag like sweaty shoes. Additionally, you don’t want to mix your sweaty gym shoes with your towels and clothes to avoid contaminating them with bacteria and odour, of course. Always carry a shoe bag where you can keep your workout shoes after leaving the gym. Make sure it’s lockable and washable to keep your gym items smelling fresh all the time.

  1. Socks

It’s common to forget to pack a pair of socks especially if you don’t need to wear socks in your day-to-day activities. However, working out without socks can cause serious damage to your feet. Not to mention, it can really stink up your shoes. To be on the safe side, keep a pair or two in your gym bag in case you have one of those days where you forget to wear socks.

  1. Earphones

You shouldn’t underestimate the power of entertainment while you work out. It helps keep you motivated so you don’t focus on feeling tired or bored. As such, you need to have a good pair of earphones or headphones in your gym bag to listen to your favourite music, podcasts, or TED talks. Go for wireless earphones so they don’t get tangled up while you’re on the move.

  1. Towel

This is a no-brainer. You need a towel whether your gym provides towels or not. However, many people forget to pack one while going to the gym which creates an awkward situation where you have to wipe yourself with your spare clothes. Get a fast-drying towel since you’ll need to use it daily and wash it regularly.
