Turning 30 is one of life’s major milestones. It’s something that many adults look forward to as it comes with new life experiences. However, there are a number of things to tick off your bucket list before turning the big 3-0.

  1. Work For Someone You Admire

By now, you most likely have a list of people who you look up to in your line of work. Though finding employment is tough as it is, make it a goal to work for one of the people who inspire you. It might even be an unpaid internship. However, the knowledge you will gain will give you the skills you need to achieve your dreams.

  1. Be A Mentor/Volunteer

By the time you are turning 30, you should have at least one mentee under your wing. The youth are lacking mentors which is why many of them have no clear direction in life. Being a mentor or a volunteer not only helps curb this problem but it also gives you a set of skills that you will need in your 30s. You can do this on your own or you can join organizations like Rotary!

  1. Move Out From Home

I admire people who move out when they turn 18. That is a different level of bravery most people struggle with even in their 20’s. Living alone builds character.  If you are looking for more independence then moving out of home will help you become more independent and be able to make decisions on your own.

  1. Get Rid Of Bad Habits

We all have skeletons in our closets. Whether it’s smoking, procrastinating or overspending, these habits have to go before turning 30. While stepping into this new chapter, try bringing some good changes in your life. Additionally, it might get more difficult to get rid of those habits as you get older.

  1. Learn A New Language

Being multilingual has been associated to promote healthier brain. It starves off diseases like Alzheimer’s and Dementia. Additionally, it gives you a new outlook on life. Learning a new language helps you experience a different culture. Therefore, it should be a priority before turning 30 to learn a new language. 5 advantages of learning a new language

  1. Live Abroad

This sounds scary, reckless and all those things dream killers say. However, it has been done. Take a sabbatical from work, school and relationships and move to a different country for a year or so. If finances are a problem, get yourself a work visa so you can cater to the bills. You’ll have an interesting story to tell when you get back home.

  1. Add Colour To Your Clothes

Changing your wardrobe is something everybody should do before turning 30. This is a period when you’re transitioning from a young adult to a full-blown adult. Therefore, your clothes need to be a little more sophisticated. that doesn’t mean they have to be boring. Adding more colour to your clothes will instantly elevate your mood. You can start small with a colourful scarf or shoe.

  1. Be Involved In A Cause

There are a number of causes to be involved in such as assisting street children, environmental conservation or fighting for women’s rights. Finding a cause you’re passionate about will help you channel your energy into doing good.

  1. Start A Business/Website

Put your entrepreneurial skills to use by starting a business or running a website. This will help you find your niche as well as turn your passion into a paycheck. Additionally, doing business has become easier due to the availability of resources. So, if you have a good idea, put it to work.

  1. Go To A Famous Festival

Attending a festival should be on everybody’s bucket list before turning 30. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a local or international festival. However, going to one abroad makes it a one-of-a-kind life experience. Some of the well-known festivals include Coachella, Afropunk, Burning Man and Thrift Social.

Make your 20s the most epic years by trying some (or all) of these things. What’s the craziest thing you’re willing to do before you turn 30?
