Health is the new rich. A healthy life is a happy life. It is, therefore, necessary to preserve your health and that of your eyesight. Healthy eyes are just as important as they are attractive. To ensure that you have gorgeous and healthy eyesight, try these few lifestyle changes.

  1. Eat Lots Of Fruits And Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals which protect the eyes from infections. Furthermore, they contain water that keeps your eyes from drying which strains the eyes. Foods like carrots, citrus fruits, green vegetables and fish promote 20-20 eyesight.

  1. Use good eye Makeup

This is one area where many women fail. They say that cheap is expensive and this applies to make up as well. Investing in quality makeup not only ensures that your face looks flawless, but it’s also a guarantee that the ingredients used are safe for humans. Generic makeups contain harmful materials that can be detrimental to your eyesight. Also, you should avoid sharing makeup as infections can be transferred through them. Beauty: 8 Eyeshadow Mistakes To Avoid

  1. Go For Regular Check-Ups

You should visit an eye doctor at least once a year to get professional feedback about your eyesight. Sometimes, we assume that our eyes are healthy. Diseases like cataracts start affecting your eyesight with time which results in surgery. To be on the safer side, ensure that you get regular checkups from credible opticians.

  1. Look Away From The Computer Screen

Practice the 20-20-20 rule where you rest your eyes every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. While resting your eyes, you can do simple eye exercises like moving an object close then far from you. These exercises even out your eyesight by ensuring that your retina adjusts accordingly. While using your computer, make sure that the room is well-lit and the screen is not too bright or too dull.

  1. Wear Sunglasses

Harsh light is dangerous to your eyesight. Whether cloudy or sunny, the sun’s ultraviolet rays cause eyesight problems like keratitis. Therefore, it is important to wear eye protection when you go out into the light. You can wear regular sunglasses with UV protection or prescription glasses from the optician. Fashion: 7 Sunglasses Styles To Try For That Hot Look

  1. Avoid Smoking

It’s proven that tobacco contains compounds that are harmful to the eyes. These compounds cause loss of eyesight and accelerate age-related macular degeneration. Smokers are also likely to develop cataracts where the eye lens gets cloudy. In general, smoking is not good for your health.
