A clean home is a happy home. Though cleaning can be tedious and sometimes expensive, these cleaning hacks will help you kill two birds with one stone and ensure your living space is spotless.

  1. Baking Soda & Vinegar

This mixture helps in cleaning that pesky, greasy cooker. Cookers gather smoke and grease which becomes very difficult to clean with ordinary soap. Spray the solution on the cooker and let it sit for a few minutes then clean it with a warm cloth. Used separately, baking soda is good for removing oil stains from the carpet while vinegar can be used to polish stainless steel utensils and faucets.

  1. Place Air Freshener On Air Vents

Sometimes, even after cleaning, your house still smells funky and may need something more to smell good. Buying an air freshener and placing it anywhere in the room won’t help much. If you want to maximize it, place it in front of an air vent so that when air comes into the room, it smells like the air freshener.

  1. Salt & Lemon

Your chopping board is a prized possession in your kitchen. Therefore, it’s necessary to take care of it to ensure its longevity. Cleaning with detergent leaves chemical deposits on the board which causes health risks. A safer way of cleaning your chopping board is by rubbing a sliced lemon coated with salt all over the board. The salt acts as an adhesive and the lemon disinfects the board.

  1. Toothpaste

Clean shoes also contribute to the appearance of your house. Restore your old sneakers to mint condition by using toothpaste. Toothpaste cleans and brightens stains on your sneakers to make them look as they did when you first wore them.

  1. Prioritise

It’s important to have a plan while cleaning. This way, you’ll work faster and more organized. You’ll also know which tasks to prioritize depending on the urgency and the amount of cleaning that is required. For instance, you should start off by dusting before cleaning the floors.

  1. Clean Daily

Places like the kitchen, living room and toilet that are used daily by multiple people should be kept clean at all times. It’s easier to clean immediately after use, especially for the kitchen and toilet as it prevents the mess from getting worse, hence a longer cleaning time.

  1. Use A Liquid Shower Gel In Stead Of Bar Soap

Bar soaps cause scum buildup on your bathroom walls. To avoid this, switch to shower gels and your bathroom will stay cleaner for longer. Shower gels also keep the bathroom neat since they’re packaged in bottles.

  1. Activated Charcoal

Wondering how to get rid of that lingering food smell in your fridge? Simply place a tin with activated charcoal and leave it for a while. This will soak up any odours and keep your fridge smelling as good as new.

  1. Leather Sofas

Leather sofas are susceptible to wear and tear faster than other kinds of sofas. It also shows wear easily. To restore your leather sofa’s appearance, use a shoe polish that matches the sofa to cover cracks and scratches. You will have a brand-new couch in no time.

  1. Lipstick Stains

I’m a huge culprit of this. Whether it’s on clothes, furniture or bedding, you can easily remove lipstick stains by using hairspray. Spray the spot with hairspray, let it sit for about 10 minutes, dad with a cloth and wash as normal.
