Turning 30 is considered a monumental time for an individual. It marks the end of a chapter but also the beginning of a new one. Now that you are in your 30’s, you have gone through most of you experimental clothing phase – you have an idea of what you like and what you do not like. With that knowledge at hand, it is time to try and bring together a wardrobe that suits you with a couple of simple essentials. One of the general assumptions is that while in your 30’s your financial position has significantly improved thus you may be able to purchase a few if not all of these essentials. The thing about these essentials is that they are simple yet classic and can be incorporated into most if not all fashion sense.

  1. Leather Jacket

There is something about this fashion piece that makes it seem young and cool. A great quality leather jacket is a great find. You can use it to switch up a couple of looks. Not to mention, it makes layering during cold seasons look really stylish.

2. Ankle Pants

You can never go wrong in a pair(s) of ankle pants. They are the perfect balance between official and casual wear. The chic simple look will definitely make you look mature yet fashionable. It works as such a great substitute for jeans and official suits. Check out Elle’s 30 Wardrobe Essentials You Should Own by 30.

3. Sneakers

Getting a great pair of quality sneakers should be a priority in your 30’s. Often at that age, comfort precedes fashion and you will find yourself in the need for some comfy legwear. The great thing about sneakers is the multitasking aspect. One can wear them with jeans, dresses and even workout clothes.

4. Weekender Bag

A weekender bag or weekender is a bag where you pack your clothes when you are going for a very short getaway. In your 20’s you probably carried around a backpack and tossed whatever you needed in there. Invest in a quality weekend bag. It should spacious enough to carry everything you need but not so big that it is almost twice your body size.

5. Strap heels

Now being in your 30’s is no excuse to wear flats and sneakers all the time. If you are comfortable wearing heels, get yourself a pair of nude strap heels that can go with pretty much everything. Pop them out on a girls night out, a night work event or even on a date. Strap heels make you look more young and elegant.

6. Trench Coat/Blazer

A trench coat and a well-fitted blazer help bring an outfit together. They are structured fashion pieces that work well with almost everything. Whether in formal employment or not, they act as the perfect classic additions to your wardrobe. They also tone down excentric fashion statements so you can be daring yet subtle.

7. Non-branded Tote Bag

For some reason, the size of your bag increases with age. Find yourself a size appropriate tote bag without any brand names on it. It can be a plain tote bag or a creative printed version. Since you will be dumping a lot of essentials in there, the bag should be of great quality. Especially with the ban on paper bags in our country, this comes in handy instead of walking around with a couple of small eco-friendly bags.
