Look around you. Chances are you have some things that you don’t use very often or ever. They are just sitting there, taking up space. The cost of living is high and every shilling you get is important. It’s time you stopped ignoring the unused items and turned them into fast cash.

It’s hard to pin point when the buying and selling of goods in Kenya changed. But the onslaught of online classifieds has revolutionized our shopping experiences. As these sites become more popular, one can’t help but question what their relevance is to our daily lives. To me one factor stands out: that of it being a fast and convenient method of selling.

Picture this; you have that old desk in your room. You probably bought it on impulse or it was a great buy a few years ago. Now it’s just filling up space and throwing everything into disorder because it doesn’t fit in with everything else you have. Short of you throwing it out as junk, you can’t find a buyer even after telling all your friends and family about selling it. It’s not something big so taking out an ad in the newspaper is out of question. It’s too much work and will cost you more than what you would get from selling it to place the ad.

This is where online classifieds come in. There are so many to choose from and it all depends on your mood. All you need is to take a picture of the item, upload it on the site and wait for someone to contact you.

There’s no hassle of loading the item in your car and carrying it all over town to advertise. Do you know how much of a relief that is especially when the item in question is heavy or fragile? It brings indescribable relief to be able to do the advertising from the comfort of your home.

There’s also the fact that it doesn’t take long to sell the item. Once someone in your area gets in touch with you to buy the item, you can set up a meeting in less than a day and have the item picked up in 2 days. Payment is done on delivery meaning that fast cash really is fast cash.

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to make good use of the free advertising space and sell off goods on OLX. Fast money and I won’t have to work so hard to do it.

To find out more about buying and selling online go to olx.co.ke.
