Yesterday I had gone for a Rotaract Meeting. It was supposed to have been a session with Peter Kenneth. While there I found out about a new initiative that Rotary and Rotaract Kenya are running. It is a campaign to get 1,000,000 signatures for the inclusion of peace studies in the Kenyan school Education curriculum. Rotary Kenya (includes Rotary, Rotaract and Interact) is trying to lobby the government to include peace studies in Kenyan schools.

I will be writing articles about the petition and campaign once I get more information. For now this is the information you need go to www.umeclick.com and sign the petition. You can also follow the campaign on social media.

By the way Eric Wainana has donated his song Kenya Daima to this campaign. As part of this campaign there will be videos of different children from different Kenyan communities singing this song. How awesome is that.

This project is a testimony of what the youth can do when they put their minds to it. Please support it. It’s a youth campaign run by the youth. More then ever and especially because of what happened in 2007/2008 we need such an initiative in schools to shape young minds to choose peace and not violence.
