kenya

My beloved country Kenya,
As a people we have done you wrong.
All that you have provided
We have refused to share.
Our diversity is our strength
but no one seems to care.
In our national anthem we pray
That justice be our shield and defender.
Who will defend you from our poaching?
Who will defend you from our pollution?
Who will defend you from our corruption?
Who will defend you from our greed?
Who will defend you from tribalism,
nepotism and terrorism?
Who will stand with you
When we have drained you of all your beauty?
We have forgotten that when you die
Then as a nation we will cease to exist,
We have forgotten that you are all we have,
Our beloved country Kenya.

By E. Alubaka Asher

Let us not think of ourselves and forget our country, it’s like burning your house while you are still in it.
