East Africa Got Talent (EAGT) auditions saw many participants come forth to display their gifts and talents. Participants who hailed from Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya got a chance to try their luck in the spin-off that takes place in over 70 countries.

Talents ranged from singing, dancing, comedy, magic, juggling, stunts and a variety of other genres.

Following the unveiling of the judges, East Africa Got Talent is currently set to premiere on Sunday 4th August. The show will be broadcasted at 8 pm in the participating countries which include; Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and (7 pm in Rwanda). It will air on Citizen TV, Clouds TV, NBS and RTV respectively, with Clouds Media and Rapid Blue as the official production company.

East Africa Got Talent will have 10 episodes with semi-finals and the grand finale being shot live in Nairobi, Kenya.

These judges comprise of; Vanessa Mdee, a Tanzanian singer and songwriter, Makeda Mahadeo, a Rwandese media personality and first female DJ in Rwanda, Gaetano Kagwa, a Ugandan actor and broadcaster, and Jeff Koinange, a renowned media personality in Kenya. Uganda’s comedian and actress Anne Kansiime will host the EAGT show.

Qualified participants of East Africa Got Talent will have to attain approval from the judges in order to proceed to the next round.

Each of the four East Africa Got Talent judges will have their own red buzzer that will be pressed once the judge has seen enough. Once all four buzzers have been pressed, the act must stop. A contestant will then receive feedback from the judges and if successful they will proceed to the next stage.

Each contestant needs to receive at least three approval ‘yesses’ from the judges to go through to the next round. Without a majority of votes from the four judges, a contestant will be eliminated.

Speaking during the unveiling of the judges, Joseph Kusaga, CEO of Clouds Media International, highlighted that it couldn’t get any more exciting than to bring Got Talent global format home. “The platform will command a global audience for our amazing East African Talents,” said the CEO

“East Africa Got Talent show is all about giving a chance to East Africans to showcase their talent and as a brand that believes in providing platforms for people to thrive, we are very excited to be part of the show”, said Sitoyo Lopokoiyit, Chief Financial Services Officer, Safaricom.

Key partners of East Africa Got Talent show include; Safaricom PLC and Coca-Cola Company.

The winner of East Africa Got Talent show will walk away with Ksh. 5 million (USD 50,000) as voted by the audience.

Created by Simon Cowell the Got Talent is one of the most popular and successful talents shows as accredited by the Guinness world records.
