Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Traditionally in Kenya, tea with milk is the go to breakfast meal. It is however common for working people to neglect breakfast because they are in a hurry to go to work. There are several fast meals you can have to keep you running throughout the day without having to have sugar or milk in your breakfast. Health & Lifestyle: The Bitter Truths About Sugar

The most traditional alternative to tea and bread is leftover food. You can make your leftovers from the previous night more exciting by recooking them. For instance for rice and spaghetti, preparing some sauce on the side could make the food seem like it’s a different one from what you had last night. Cook some onions; add tomatoes and grated carrots, bell pepper, and garlic. Have the sauce with your leftovers.

There are however foods that you can have on the go or when you are in a hurry. Not just because they are easy to carry with you on the go or their taste, they also have nutritious advantages.

  1. Eggs – boiled or fried, eggs are rich in protein and healthy fats. They have a vast range of vitamins and proteins. Protein varies in nutritional quality, with animal protein being generally superior to vegetable protein and those found in eggs are the best of all, said Nikhil Dhurandhar. Dr. Dhurandhar talks about how eggs can curb hunger throughout the day which in turn, helps in obesity cases and in reducing weight.
  2. Avocado. Avocados have good fats and this helps to curb sugar cravings. They contain very low saturated fat. They also contribute to hormone health. Avocados can be eaten on the go or added to a salad or a dip. The nutritional value adds to whatever it is that you wish to consume.  Avocados do not contain any sodium or cholesterol.  You can make a sandwich or a vegan burger with it. Using avocado instead of the common bread spread also works wonders for your calorie intake. Simply cut your bun into two, place some thinly chopped tomatoes on both pieces. Cut up some avocado and place them on the bun.
  3. Carrot and lemon salad. There’s a bitter-sweet, fairly addictive and intriguing taste when you add lemon to carrots. Carrots are healthy and beneficial for eyesight though people rarely consume them. Lemons have their advantages as well: they help in weight loss, help in keeping skin healthy and promote hydration. Carrots are sweet when combined with other things but when dressed with lemon they taste like an exquisite dish. The bitter taste tends to suppress cravings of other things. Vitamin A in carrots helps prevent vision loss. The antioxidants present in carrots helps prevent cancer and cardiovascular diseases. Combine your carrots with tomatoes and cucumbers. The meal is healthy and tasty. It will however not hold you for long so it is more convenient to eat if you are on a diet.
