TECNO has launched its new smartphone, the PHANTOM V-Fold. It’s the latest model in the PHANTOM X2 series. Multimedia display

The phone has a 6.42-inch screen with a micro-curved design and a 21:9 aspect ratio for the best single-screen display. It’s perfect for use with one hand and is narrow enough to fit in the palm and use with just a thumb.
When unfolded, the inner screen of TECNO PHANTOM V-Fold has a 7.85-inch display with an 8:7 aspect ratio. The flat screen also doesn’t have a visible crease.
It has a space-grade fold that completely hides the crease. It is also lightweight, strong, and stable. The crease is only 0.11mm, and the phone can fold up to 200,000 times.
Photography
The TECNO PHANTOM V-Fold has a 5-lens camera set with three back lenses and two front-facing cameras. It creates a whole new world of image-making. The PHANTOM V-Fold has a 50MP Super Night main camera with a super light-sensitive 1/1.3in sensor, large f/1.85 aperture, and 7P composition. It also contains AI-powered Super Night Portrait, Super Night Mode, and Super Night 4K Video. The AI modes make night images sharper and clearer, providing great detail. The other back camera lenses contain a 50MP telephoto lens with 2X optical and 20X digital zoom and a 13MP wide-angle lens.
The two front lenses of the TECNO PHANTOM V-Fold are placed in both the outer and inner screens. The inner screen camera enables large-screen photography. It also boosts the quality of video calls.
Specialized Operating System
Originally, foldable phones didn’t have suitable operating systems. But TECNO has circumvented this by creating the HiOS13 Fold. This is a tailor-made OS created from Android 13 for the TECNO PHANTOM V-Fold.
The large screen enables split screens, multiple windows, drag and drop, interactive animation designs, and picture-in-picture displays to enable better productivity. It also creates convenience and simultaneously boosts the user’s enjoyment of multiple apps. Over 1000 popular apps have gotten customisations to support split-screen and multiple windows. The TECNO PHANTOM V-Fold has over 2000 apps adapted for HiOS13 Fold.
Processor
The TECNO PHANTOM V-Fold is a pioneering left-right foldable smartphone powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000+ processor, the market equivalent of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ has a dual-5G processor that enables dual SIM functionality tailored for the PHANTOM V Fold’s large screen design.
The processor boosts the phone’s performance by enabling multitasking and fast screen switching using its 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256/512GB UFS 3.1 flash storage.
TECNO PHANTOM V-Fold also has a 5000mAh battery with a rapid 45W supercharger which can charge the battery from empty to 40% in 15 minutes and fully charges in 55 minutes.
Cost
The TECNO PHANTOM V-Fold retails at Ksh. 129,999 for the 256+12 GB model and Ksh. 143,999 for 512+12 GB model, exclusive of VAT.
It will be available at TECNO stores nationwide, Safaricom shops, and the PHANTOM website.
